Rolling Meadows man faces tax charges
A 41-year-old Rolling Meadows man has been charged in federal court with two felony counts of filing false tax returns for himself and his company in 2003. The IRS said Martin J. Sandoval, president and owner of Rolling Meadows-based Sandoval Construction, filed a corporate tax return reporting income from sales of about $1.54 million, a sum authorities said is $185,737 short. Sandoval is also accused of filing a false 2003 personal tax return reporting $104,876 in total income. The correct total should include the same $185,737, the IRS said. Sandoval is due to be arraigned on Feb. 18. The maximum sentence for each charge is three years in prison and/or a $100,000 fine, or $500,000 fine in the case of a corporation.
