Palatine Twp. man charged with battery on a child
A 25-year-old man has been charged with a felony count of aggravated battery of a child after allegedly attacking a 7-month-old girl in early January.
Yanisay Diaz, 25, of 1526 Crimson Lane in Palatine Township, was also charged with two counts of domestic battery for the alleged attack, said Penny Mateck, spokesperson for the Cook County Sheriff's Department.
He is being held in Cook County Jail, Mateck said, on $75,000 bail.
The charges came after police investigation into the alleged attack on the baby.
Mateck said, to protect the child, the department can not release further details about the attack, and would not release additional information about how Diaz knew the child.
She did say, however, the child was treated at a hospital for her injuries and placed in the custody of the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services. Both the sheriff police and DCFS conducted the investigation, Mateck added.
Diaz will be in court on March 9 in Rolling Meadows.
