Charity poker night

Win a seat, worth $10,000, in the World Series of Poker Tournament in Las Vegas at the Marklund Casino Night & Texas Hold 'em Poker Tournament March 6 at McGrath Lexus of Chicago, 1250 W. Division St. Second prize is a circuit seat at the World Series of Poker Tournament at Horseshoe Casino in Hammond, Ind. A poker entry costs $300, and it includes one entry to the poker tournament plus one additional casino guest. Casino entry costs $80 and includes one non-poker playing guest. Spaghetti for flowers

"Pasta for Posies," a fundraiser for the Geneva Beautification Committee, is at 5 p.m. March 4 at Riverview Banquets, 1117 N. Washington Ave. in Batavia. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children 10 and younger. There is a 50/50 raffle and a quilt raffle. Geneva horticulturist Mary Stavenhagen will conduct a seminar on gardening and answer planting and flower arranging questions. Tickets are sold at Farmers Insurance, the Geneva Chamber of Commerce, the Geneva History Center, Graham's 318, The Olive Mill and Viking Office Supply, all in Geneva. Spring for seasonal fare at ECC

Lunch service has resumed at Spartan Terrace, the upscale restaurant operated by students of the Culinary Arts and Hospitality Institute of Elgin at ECC. The restaurant is now open from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays through April 30 inside the Culinary Arts Center, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin. The menus, created by students and instructors, are changed once during the semester to give students the opportunity to prepare and serve a variety of dishes. This semester, guests can enjoy lunch fare such as sea scallops and risotto, grilled salmon, steak and frites, and seared tuna salad niçoise. Entree prices range from $7 to $10. Reservations for lunch and dinner are recommended and available by calling (847) 214-7382.
