Townships to hold annual food drive
Barrington and Cuba townships are joining together for their seventh annual "Have a Heart" food drive from 9 a.m. to noon Feb. 9. The Barrington Countryside Fire Station 1 at 400 N. Northwest Hwy. in Barrington, and the Barrington Countryside Fire Station 3, at 22N222 Pepper Road in Lake Barrington, are drop-off locations. Donations of non-perishable food items are appreciated, but checks will be accepted as well. Mandolin player comes to Harper
Don Stiernberg, a critically acclaimed mandolin player will perform with the Don Stiernberg Trio at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 9 at Harper College, 1200 W. Algonquin Road, Palatine.
This year's return engagement, "Acoustic Swing and More," picks up where last season's sold out concert left off, with forays into bluegrass, classical, blues and Brazilian music in addition to the trio's swing sound.

Inverness group offers scholarships
Applications can now be picked up for the annual Women's Club of Inverness scholarship. Several $1,000 scholarships will be awarded. Applications are at the guidance offices of the local high schools in District 211 and 220. Deadline is March 14. Call (847) 358-8438.
