Don't force us to support abortion
Is there anything that Americans believe in so strongly that they are willing to put their money where their mouth is?
Many Americans do just that when they personally finance Catholic education. Catholic schools receive no bailouts, no tax money, no free transportation for their children; yet they continue to flourish as evidenced by standardized test results, number of Blue Ribbon schools, and number of students who go on to college.
As a recently-retired Catholic school principal in Texas, my school was staffed by certified and professional teachers who were willing to accept a starting salary of about 65 percent of their counterparts in the public school arena. Parents paid tuition that covered only 70 percent of the annual budget. They also volunteered countless hours and participated in a plethora of fundraisers. The parish community also donated a subsidy to help balance the budget. Also $30,000 of the budget was used for tuition assistance for families to make Catholic education a reality for their children.
Let's revisit putting money where our mouth is in reference to abortion.
Abortion is legal in this country. So why aren't those who believe strongly in abortion willing to finance the industry? So many ultra-wealthy entertainers have private jets, more homes than most of us have rooms in our houses, but do not financially support what they vehemently espouse! There are countless politicians and CEO's who make abortion a cornerstone of their value system. They enjoy more perks than we can imagine, yet they demand that all of us pay taxes for something we believe is evil.
Catholic schools flourish because some people put their money where their mouth is, but abortion flourishes because pro-abortion proponents put our money where their mouths are.
