10 more busted in Elgin license sting

In the third sting operation conducted in the last three months, 10 people with suspended or revoked drivers' licenses were arrested Monday as they drove away from Elgin Branch Court.

Those who were arrested included Katherine E. Brown, Reuben Carachure, Jessica A. Wishon, Alexander D. Neal, Lawrence Q. Carrington Jr., Javier Valdivia, Josimar Estrada and Juan C. Rodriguez, all of Elgin; Eduardo Mercado of Aurora and Amauri P. Gonzalez of Crystal Lake.

All 10 posted $100 and were released from the Elgin lockup.

"We did this operation in order to keep people who shouldn't be driving off the streets," said Elgin police Sgt. Tom Lindner, who headed up the operation.

"I was impressed with how many people knew we were in court and how many consequently called cabs or friends to drive them home," he said.

The number of people scheduled to be in court Monday morning was 324, with another and 264 in the afternoon.

Most of those cases involved traffic offenses.
