Rep. Kirk outlines focus for next term

I want to thank the voters of the 10th District for re-electing me as their representative in Congress.

After a hard-fought campaign, the center held and I will serve as one of the leading moderates in Congress.

With the new administration, there is a real potential for bipartisan consensus, especially backing policies that will make our country energy independent.

By backing alternative energy, conservation and off shore energy exploration, we also can help our economic recovery.

My top priority will be financial reform to make sure what happened to the markets in September never happens again.

I shall also focus on local priorities, including a ban on dumping in Lake Michigan.

It is an honor to serve you in Congress.
