Allstar Rebels cheer their way to trophies
Allstar Rebels of St. Charles attended the Champion Spirit Groups National Tournament held at McCormick Place on Feb. 7-8. Competitive cheerleading organizations from Illinois, Iowa, Missouri, Wisconsin, Indiana, Michigan and Florida were in attendance. Allstar Rebels finished the competition with four nationals titles and two grand championships.
Coach Sandy Gillespie had this to say about her two national title winning teams, the Hooligans (age 5 and younger) and the Bandits (age 8 and younger), "This competition was packed with some pretty amazing teams. We have been working very hard and both teams have been getting better each time they competed. This weekend they both really turned up the heat and brought to the floor performances dreams are made of! To win against these competitors is extraordinary and we want to congratulate all the other organizations on their fine performances."
In total, the Bandits brought home a first-place national title, grand champion title for outscoring all Level 1 teams, and won awards for best stunts, best tumbling, best choreography, and shared the sportsmanship award with the Hooligans team who also won a national title.
It wasn't just the younger teams who experienced success at this past weekend's national competition, both the Desperados (age 14 and younger) and the Rockstarz (age 18 and younger) brought home national titles with the Rockstarz also securing a grand championship for having the highest Level 4 score. This brought the Allstar Rebels first-place trophy count to four.
The Outlaws (age 14 and younger) finished second and the Renegades (age 18 and younger) finished fourth.
