Catholics are not to blame for abuse
In reply to Connie Pohlman's attack on the Catholic Church, I would first want to tell her to remember that the perpetrators she refers to were Catholic priests and my guess is the victims were probably all Catholics.
We (Catholics) are the one's most violated by our own. Does that make it right? Of course not, and the church should pay for their mishandling of the situation.
Ms. Pohlman is correct in that they, the priests, should be punished. I believe they, who had our trust, should be punished more harshly than the non-religious.
Then she uses the term "Catholic Church" that includes us, the lay people, and that is unjust.
We all feel the stigma of that abusive behavior but that does not make our beliefs wrong. Apparently this woman has an ax to grind with the church and it is not all about pedophiles.
