Charges filed in Cook County inmate's death
Authorities say a man has been charged in the beating death of his cellmate at the Cook County Jail.
David Jamison was charged with first-degree murder Tuesday in the death of John Lambert, who was found unconscious in his cell on June 26, 2007. The 25-year-old died 12 days later.
Sally Daly, a spokeswoman for Cook County State's Attorney Anita Alvarez, says authorities reopened an investigation into Lambert's death after the Chicago Tribune ran a story on it in September.
Lambert's parents have filed a federal lawsuit against Sheriff Tom Dart and jail officials, alleging paramedics didn't respond to guards' calls for help.
The 55-year-old Jamison is scheduled for a bond hearing on Wednesday.
