Gay rights is today's civil rights battle
When my perceptive grandfather was a labor organizer in the South in the 1910s, he wrote Samuel Gompers, head of the AFL, that "black people want the same things for their families that white people do."
I have always been proud of that.
Similarly, I would remind Ken Libowicz of Hoffman Estates (Fence Post Jan. 31) that homosexuals want the same things for their families that heterosexuals do."
And they should have them.
