Man gets probation in stockpiled guns case

A Jefferson County man who authorities say was found stockpiling guns and ammunition in his southern Illinois home has been sentenced to two years of probation.

Fifty-four-year-old Dennis Duncan was arrested in 2006 after investigators found the cache, which apparently included a couple of pipe bombs and materials to make them.

Searchers of his Woodlawn home also turned up numerous shotguns, rifles and handguns.

His sentence Friday also included orders that he undergo a mental health evaluation.

Duncan pleaded guilty to a felony count of unlawful use of weapons in November 2006.
