Why don't they join cancer fundraisers?

I've been hearing a lot of advertisements on the radio lately for breast cancer walk fundraisers. After listening closely, I realized there are two competeing events planned for next summer. It would seem to me that since there is a common goal, these two organizations should join together to eliminate the duplicate costs associated with administrative overhead, advertising, and research efforts.
