Crash shuts down Algonquin Road
Although their vehicle suffered extensive damage after it hit a utility pole, two adults and two children suffered only minor injuries Saturday.
The crash occurred at about 10:20 a.m. on Route 62 east of Old Sutton Road in Barrington Hills and disrupted traffic for an hour.
The 30-year-old woman driving a Toyota Matrix told police she lost consciousness before the accident, Barrington Hills Lt. Rich Semelsberger said. Authorities are still investigating the incident.
The Toyota smacked into a ComEd pole on the north side of Route 62. Although no wires came down, the road was closed until ComEd crews could inspect the damage.
The occupants of the vehicle, who included the driver, another woman plus a 3-year-old and a 4-year-old, received minor cuts, bumps and bruises and were taken to St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates.
All were wearing seat belts and the air bags deployed, police said.
