A magical Cinderella, especially for kids

Big Noise Theatre Company in Des Plaines is producing its first area Especially for Kids production with an interactive version of the musical "Cinderella."

Directed by professional director/choreographer Stacey Flaster of Evanston, the musical is aimed at children 3-10 and runs through May 17 at Prairie Lakes Theatre, 515 E. Thacker St., Des Plaines.

Big Noise Theatre's "Cinderella," written by Marc Robin, tells the tale of a beautiful but neglected daughter, her emotionally-extreme stepsisters, a no-nonsense Fairy Godmother, an audience-powered wand, and, of course, a happily-ever-after ending.

"Children really love this interactive version of the classic," Flaster says. "Cinderella not only finds her handsome prince, but she also finds her own voice. She does all of this with a little magic and a lot of help from her friends in the audience."

Children also get to talk to the actors after the show.

"The kids really love talking to the actors. It's a very exciting hands-on introduction to theater for little ones," Flaster says.

The all-adult cast of Cinderella comes from throughout the Chicago area. It stars Carey Lee Burton, Becky Mocarski, Jack Ryan and Jessica Vann from Chicago; Mary Campbell of Palatine; Lori Spencer of Northbrook and Tom Walker, from Carol Stream.

Show times are 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturdays, and 11 a.m. Sundays. All tickets are $10; buy them at (847) 604-0275, or www.bignoise.org.
