Second Bartlett cop struck by car

It wasn't a good weekend for the safety of police on the roads of Bartlett.

At about 7:50 p.m. Sunday, a Bartlett police officer was struck by a vehicle while outside his squad car investigating a traffic crash on West Bartlett Road near Route 59.

Paramedics took the community service officer to the hospital with minor injuries, police said.

Authorities said the car that struck the unnamed officer was driven by Domenic Colette of Bartlett, who was cited for improper lane usage, failure to exercise due care with a pedestrian on roadway and failure to proceed with due caution upon approach of an authorized emergency vehicle. Colette was given a March 30 Rolling Meadows court date.

Sunday's incident came two day after a Bartlett squad car with its emergency lights flashing and two officers inside was rear-ended by a station wagon on Route 59 near Pebble Beach Drive. No one was hurt in that wreck, and a Warrenville woman was charged with DUI and other traffic citations in Friday's crash.
