When will schools start to downsize?
I could not believe that I read that a government run school (public education), Larkin High School in Elgin, was actually going to downsize its operations by letting go a principal, athletic director, bilingual chairwoman and staff and many more (actually less than 20), which probably accounts for a very, very low percentage of total employment at the school. However, as rare this kind of action is, it is better than nothing.
Now how about our Tri-Cities schools, just when will you be downsizing just like all the private sector is doing? Caterpillar, Kodak, the auto companies, Google, etc., are all downsizing to keep their companies healthy and competitive. Will our tax-supported, government-run schools be downsizing to keep their budgets in line like the private sector? Like the headline said, "I cannot believe what I had read," that a school is acting like it is their own money and not us taxpayers'.
