Politicians should take Business 101
Only a politician can believe that a government-run health care program funded by the American taxpayer is fair competition to private insurance companies. That is because only politicians can believe trillion-dollar deficits with your money is OK. Businesses can't lose money and live unless they are taken over by the government (GM, AIG, etc.) so they have to make a profit. When President Obama, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and every other Democrat demonizes health insurance companies for outrageous profits, I wonder if they are just ignorant or flat out lying. You see, the health insurance industry's average profit is about 3 percent versus the S&P 500 average profit of about 6 percent. You probably expect to make more than 3 percent profit on your 401K investments! My favorite political hypocrite is Sen. Kerry, who damned the health insurance industry's 3 percent profit while Heinz (the ketchup company) which is owned by Kerry's wife makes roughly three times the profit ratio of the health insurance companies. I am no fan of the health insurance companies, but let's get our facts straight. The only thing worse than the insurance companies is the federal government, which has bankrupted Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and our nation with trillions of dollars of debt. If the public option bankrupts the independent health insurance companies using your tax dollars, all that will be left is the public option run by politicians. Good luck to us all if that happens.
