New committeeperson named for Republicans in Barrington Township

Peter Kopsaftis has been appointed by Cook County Republican Party Chairman Sean Morrison to serve as the Barrington Township committeeperson.

Kopsaftis currently is president of the Barrington Township Republican Organization. Kopsaftis has been involved in GOP politics since the Reagan administration.

He replaces Chris Geissler, who will remain with and have an active role in the Barrington Township GOP organization as a board director.

"I came to the United States as a poor child and with little to offer," said Kopsaftis, who was born in Greece. "I am forever grateful to this great country for providing me with the opportunity to build a better life."
