SUV crashes into Arlington Heights store

No one was injured after a man drove an SUV into an Arlington Heights UPS store after mistaking the gas pedal for the break Monday afternoon. Officials responded to The UPS Store, 309 E. Rand Road, around 12:51 p.m. Monday to find a Lexus SUV driven by Gregory Mesin, 71, of the 1800 block of Normandy Court in Arlington Heights completely inside the store, officials said. A neighboring Quiznos restaurant that shares a wall with the store sustained minor damage, officials said. The UPS Store is closed until the proper repairs can be made, police said. Mesin was charged with damaging private property and is due in court on March 31, police said.
