Lake Co. man gets prison for sex with teen

A Warren Township man was sentenced to a year in prison and 30 months on probation Tuesday for having sex with a teenage girl he met through MySpace.

Lake County Associate Judge Theodore Potkonjak also barred Arthur Czajakowski, 33, from using social networking sites during the term of his sentence.

Assistant State's Attorney Bolling Haxall said Czajakowski, 33, of the 36000 block of Traer Terrace, began communicating with the 15-year-old girl on MySpace in early November of last year.

The girl agreed to meet Czajakowski at a fast-food restaurant later that month and the two began a dating relationship.

Haxall said the two first had sex at Czajakowski's residence on Nov. 29 and there were several more incidents between then and April 30.

Police were alerted to the situation by an anonymous phone call and both the girl and Czajakowski admitted the relationship in separate interviews.

Czajakowski pleaded guilty to aggravated criminal sexual abuse and could have faced up to seven years in prison if convicted after a trial.

Haxall said Czajakowski will also have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
