What to do with stimulus money? Daley's checking his list
Chicago is still figuring out how much it will get from the federal stimulus package, but Mayor Richard Daley says there's help on the way for mass transit, schools, public housing and other projects.
Earlier this week President Barack Obama signed a $787 billion stimulus package that will mean a cash infusion for states and cities.
Daley says the stimulus legislation doles out money based on funding formulas or grants.
He says the city will apply for federal help for transportation and mass transit projects, airport improvements and water and sewer infrastructure.
The city also will look for money for job training, the Head Start program and increasing Internet access around the city with better broadband technology.
