Garrett good fit for U.S. Congress

After reading many recent articles and blogs about a battle for the House seat in the 10th Congressional District I just had to speak up. There is one person who I hope will run for the U.S. Congress. State Sen. Susan Garrett has the experience, the truly independent voting record for her district and a long and distinguished record of service to her constituents. She has served both as a state representative and currently as a senator for over 10 years. Susan Garrett has not only been a public servant for many years she has lived in, and raised a family here for over 40.

In a time when most of us are disheartened with the dishonorable character of many of our political leaders, Susan Garrett's record on issues is stellar. She understands the independent nature of this district because it is her nature and because she has lived and served in this district most of her life.

As a former reporter and news anchor for "Lake County Live" on Star Channel 3 back in the 1990s, I can tell you first hand that I covered Susan Garrett when she made promises on the campaign trail and I continued to follow her after she was elected to see if she delivered on those promises. She did. Susan Garrett has protected us from noise pollution, water pollution and the pollution of corrupt politics. If she decides to run for this seat, although I do not live in the 10th District, I for one will be telling everyone I know in the 10th to vote for a truly independent politician with a conscience, a voting record to prove it, and an address that is actually in the 10th District. Susan Garrett I hope you decide to run for this seat and tackle federal issues the way you tackle those in the state.
