Ill. man charged in mother's strangulation death

A 27-year-old south suburban Chicago man has been charged in the strangulation death of his 59-year-old mother.

Police in Country Club Hills announced murder charges Saturday against Jarrett Jones.

Jones' mother, Sheryl Jones, was found strangled in her home early Friday.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's office says an autopsy found she had been strangled, and her death was ruled a homicide.

Police say Jones' death is unrelated to the killings of 77-year-old Leon Taylor and 75-year-old Minnie Taylor, who lived about six blocks away. The couple was found shot dead in their home on Jan. 29.
