Prospect H.S. grad stabbed, killed in Chicago

An Arlington Heights woman was stabbed to death in Chicago's Lakeview neighborhood early Sunday, officials said.

Dana Mangi, 25, of 633 N. Carlyle Lane, was found dead about 5:30 a.m. on the 1000 block of West Grace Street, Cook County Medical Examiner's office officials said.

A man with cut wounds was taken from the scene, but there had not been any charges late Sunday, police said.

Police are calling her death a homicide and are investigating whether it was a domestic incident because Mangi knew her attacker.

A police spokesman would only say that police were still investigating late Sunday.

Mangi was a 2000 graduate of Prospect High School, where she was on the honor roll, named an Illinois State Scholar and was involved in many extracurricular activities.

Mangi attended Loyola University Chicago, where she was named to the dean's list throughout her college career, majoring in communications and pre-veterinary studies, Daily Herald records show.

The medical examiner's office will perform an autopsy on Mangi today, officials said.
