Kirk's service should be on Page 1
During the last election attacks, Mr. Dan Seals and his supporters made it a fiasco to attack Mark Kirk as a non-supporter of veterans and in a couple of cases, that he was not a member of the military. It was indeed my pleasure to join hundreds of veterans who rallied to support Congressman Kirk and clearly identify that Congressman Kirk was a tremendous supporter of veterans. These riotous misstatements of fact by Mr. Seals and Co. made the front page of your Daily Herald. The negative impact that was felt throughout Lake County and other parts of the 10th Congressional District, about the credibility of the Daily Herald, has been reinforced in your newspaper again on Tuesday the 6th of January. I give you credit that you did report that Congressman Mark Kirk returned Monday after serving three weeks in combat in Afghanistan. But did that honest fact make the front page? Oh, my no, you "stuck" it on Page 9. So my logic says that it is the official policy of the Daily Herald to down play the war and to forget that they were founded to "Tell the Truth." By the way, where is our hero, that ignominious Dan Seals, hiding behind his rock now? Was he fighting for the freedom of this country?
