Imprisoned downstate attorney disbarred
EAST ST. LOUIS -- A former Madison County attorney serving a six-year federal prison sentence on drug charges has been disbarred.
Tom Lakin pleaded guilty to drug charges in September, when the U.S. government dropped counts related to allegations that the former 68-year-old Wood River attorney transported a boy to California for sexual purposes.
Federal prosecutors alleged that Lakin held cocaine-fueled sex parties at his home with minors.
Lakin is serving his sentence at the minimum-security Forrest City Federal Correctional Institution in eastern Arkansas.
He didn't object to being disbarred. He received his state law license in 1970.
