6 hurt in Hampshire car wreck; teen driver ticketed

Six people - including three Hampshire High School students - were involved in an early morning accident Tuesday at the intersection of Route 20 and Big Timber Road.

Hampshire police officials said the 7:30 a.m. crash occurred when 17-year-old Sara Como of Hampshire was heading west on Big Timber and crossed Route 20.

The teens' car collided with a car driven by Holly Blair, 53, of Rockford, that was heading south on Route 20.

The two cars then collided with a van at a stop sign at the intersection.

Como and her two passengers - ages 16 and 15 - were taken to Provena St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin with nonlife-threatening injuries. All have been released.

Blair and her 5-year-old passenger were treated at the scene, authorities said. The van driver also was treated at the scene.

Como was cited in the crash for failure to yield the right of way, authorities said.
