Trevor Koehn, Bloomingdale
Trevor Koehn, 16, isn't nervous about watching President-elect Barack Obama take the oath of office, meeting with leaders like Al Gore, Colin Powell and Archbishop Desmond Tutu.
The Bloomingdale teen is not even worried about hopping on a plane to Washington D.C.
Instead, it's the Inaugural Ball, which Trevor will attend as part of the Presidential Youth Inaugural Conference, that's got him a bit concerned.
"I'm really not the fancy, dress-up, tie type of guy, but I can handle it," Trevor said.
The Lake Park High School junior was selected last winter to the youth conference after being nominated anonymously by a teacher or mentor. He will be among 5,000 teens from across the nation who are traveling to the capital to attend all of the official inaugural events, meet dignitaries and take a crash course on presidential politics.
"During our down time we'll be interning on presidential politics, business and personal life and looking at Obama's campaign strategy that got him where he is now."
Trevor said he would feel like a part of history attending any inauguration, but Obama's historic oath of office will pack a bigger punch.
"I feel I'm going to be part of history also," said Trevor.
