Kohler Co. lays off 188 more employees

KOHLER, Wis. -- Kohler Company has laid off 188 more employees in the fourth round of job cuts since October.

Company spokeswoman Kristine Cristina said Monday the affected workers were let go Friday and were part of the company's global power group and corporate operations.

The layoffs included 112 production employees and 76 administrative workers.

Cristina said that the production layoffs are "indefinite" and those workers might eventually be recalled, but the administrative cuts are permanent.

The company is Sheboygan County's largest employer with more than 7,000 local workers, but has laid off nearly 400 employees in four cuts since October.

Kohler Company is most well-known for its high-end kitchen and bath products.
