Sanni likes what Illini offer

Let's get everyone caught up on the latest recruiting news from the Illinois Class of 2008.

• Homewood-Flossmoor senior safety/outside linebacker prospect Supo Sanni has given the Fighting Illini and coach Ron Zook his verbal commitment. Sanni made an official visit to Champaign last weekend and made his decision after his visit Sunday morning.

According to Sanni: "Illinois to be honest was sort of on and off for me during my recruiting process. This past weekend really showed me that Illinois is where I want to be for the next 4-5 years. Illinois is close to home, they offer a great education and the football program is really on the rise. I felt at home at Illinois, and I feel like I'm already a part of the team. I get along great with the coaches a lot of the players there."

• Joliet Catholic senior outside linebacker Nick Clancy gave his verbal commitment to Boston College earlier this week. Clancy narrowed down his favorites to the Eagles and Purdue, yet for Clancy it was the overall fit at Boston College that made him verbally commit to the Eagles.

According to Clancy: "it was everything that Boston College has to offer. Boston College just felt like the best overall fit for me. I really looked hard at all of my options, and up and down no other school really compared to what Boston College has to offer. Boston College offers outstanding academics, plus they are the No. 2-ranked team in the country and they are competing for national championships. It's the best possible fit for me."

• Northern Illinois received a verbal commitment from a prospect who's very close to the program. Sycamore outside linebacker Kevin Sabock received an offer and pledged to the Huskies earlier this fall. Sabock is the youngest son of NIU veteran assistant coach and recruiting coordinator Mike Sabock.
