Cook County judge pleads guilty to DUI
A Cook County judge has been fined $1,000 and sentenced to 18 months of probation for drunken driving.
Sheila McGinnis pleaded guilty Tuesday to a DUI during a hearing in a southern Chicago suburb. A judge in June granted McGinnis' request to move the hearing from her own Bridgeview courtroom to one in Markham.
The 47-year-old McGinnis was charged with misdemeanor driving under the influence after she struck another vehicle stopped at a traffic light in Tinley Park on May 8th.
No one was injured, but police said McGinnis refused to submit to a field sobriety test or a breath analysis.
She could have been jailed for up to a year.
McGinnis was retained as a judge in the Nov. 4 election.
