District 34 holds special meeting regarding teacher arrest
A veteran teacher arrested on possession of child pornography charges is the subject of a public discussion tonight in Antioch Elementary District 34.
District officials say they will talk to parents about the case involving Kenneth Lee Johnson, 60, of Wauconda, and explain how school administrators are dealing with the issue.
The meeting is set for 6 p.m. at Antioch Upper Grade School, 800 Highview Drive.
Johnson, 60, who has been teaching at AUGS for the last 20 years, was arrested by Lake County Sheriff's detectives last week after investigators found more than 1,000 pictures and nearly 100 video clips of children engaged in sex acts, some as young as infants. Law enforcement officials and social workers will be on-hand to answer questions and guide discussion. Johnson is held in Lake County jail on $500,000 bond pending his next court date on Jan. 28. He has been placed on paid-leave until school administrators complete an internal investigation according to District 34 Superintendent Scott Thompson.
