Teen charged in shooting of 5
An 18-year-old has been charged in connection with the drive-by shooting last week of five people standing outside a high school on Chicago's South Side.
Eighteen-year-old Georgio Dukes was charged early Friday with five counts of felony aggravated battery with a firearm. He is scheduled to appear for a bond hearing in Cook County Circuit Court.
According to police, Dukes was arrested Wednesday after witnesses identified him in connection with the Jan. 9 shooting outside Dunbar High School.
Police say they believe the shooting was gang-related, but they didn't believe any of the victims attended the high school where the incident occurred.
The gunshots rang out from a passing sport-utility vehicle about 8 p.m. as a high school basketball game was under way at Dunbar's gym. The victims were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
