State Rep. Kathy Ryg of Vernon Hills is taking someone special to the inauguration: Her mother.
"She has always been my mentor and role model," Ryg said of her mom, former Wheeling Mayor Sheila Schultz.
Ryg called the inauguration "an exciting time in history."
"Having a colleague from the Illinois General Assembly become the president of the United States - it's really exciting to have the opportunity to witness his wearing in," she said.
