Car, mail truck collide in Arlington Heights
An 89-year-old Arlington Heights woman driving a 1994 Oldsmobile Cutlass ran a stoplight around 2:20 p.m. Thursday and broadsided a post office truck, knocking the truck on its side at the intersection of Rand Road and Dryden Avenue in Arlington Heights, police said. The 45-year-old mail carrier, whose name was not released, is employed at the Arlington Heights post office. He was treated at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights for minor injuries, according to a paramedic at the scene. The woman, who was not identified, was cited for disobeying a red light. She was traveling southeast on Rand Road and collided with the mail truck traveling east on Dryden Avenue, according to the report. Her court date is Nov. 18.
