Man charged with stealing $1,700 from piggy bank

A 20-year-old Carpentersville man was charged with stealing $1,700 from a relative's piggy bank between Dec. 8 and Thursday. Another relative told police they saw him fishing with a wire clip in the piggy bank for money and Abraham Barajas was arrested and charged with felony theft, police said. Barajas admitted to police he stole over $300 on seven or eight occasions, police said. Barajas was unable to post a $1,000 bond and was taken to the Kane County jail Friday morning. He is scheduled to appear in court again on Feb. 2 at the Kane County Judicial Center.
