Second arrest in Elgin shooting
An Elgin teen Wednesday became the second person arrested in a June 6 shooting in Elgin, police said.
Drew A. Scruggs, 17, of 2 Longwood Place, Unit 18, has been charged with aggravated use of a firearm and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, police said.
A 27-year-old Elgin man told police that two people fired three shots at him on June 6, after an ex-friend had said he was "going to get even with him."
The victim identified the shooter and the man who made the threat as James Reco Williams, who was arrested on June 13 and was charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm.
Williams remains in the Kane County jail with a $15,000 bond and a June 26 court date at the Kane County Judicial Center.
Police then began their search for Williams' accomplice, who appeared to be about 13 or 14 years old, according to the victim.
Police brought Scruggs in for questioning to the Elgin Police Department on Wednesday. He was arrested after bring identified by witnesses, police said.
Scruggs was unable to post a $10,000 bond and was taken the Kane County jail Friday morning.
He is scheduled to appear in court again on July 2 at the Kane County Judicial Center.
