Too few see Bush was good President
Given the moral decline of the world, especially in our own country, it does not surprise me that so few "get" the president and approve his performance. After all, it's much easier for so-called "good men" to do nothing. Not to mention, "bad-acting/selfish men" doing everything to subvert decisions that might affect their way of life (been there, done that; so I know). Or just to go against "those men" who say "it's too hard!" Well, if what Bush is doing was easy ... Clinton would have done it!
Let me officially be put on record that I am proud to be of the few that believe Bush did everything possible (including accommodating liberals, spending his political capital, etc.) to ensure that there was not another attack on our soil. In my and the president's view, this was job ONE! Everything else would be meaningless if there was.
No, in hindsight, I didn't agree with everything about how the war on terror was handled. But that's war ... I never expected it to go smoothly. Bush drew the line in the sand, and said enough and as Commander-in-Chief charged our military to win it.
He made the policy to eradicate the cancer of terrorism in this world and he took what he thought was the best advice available to him at the time and blended in the concept that you and I and everybody else in the world would have done if we were in his shoes. If there was going to be an error ... it was going to be on the side of caution. As new data came in, that necessitated new decisions, it didn't make the previous decisions bad ... only old.
I will always support President Bush and believe he has set the pace for the rest of the world to catch up. His leadership is the epitome of what it means and "staying the course" without any indication of giving in is for his advisers and generals to figure out how to accomplish. His eight-year seed has already grown a fledging democracy in the heart of our enemies, who, too some day will honor him for allowing them to thrive ... out from under the thumbs of the world's bullies.
I pray President Obama protects us as well and values the commitment to bringing peace to the world that no longer stands for terrorism - in any form - to accomplish goals.
