A brand new recycled bag

Recycled goods don't always translate to great fashion, but here's an exception.

Rebagz is a unique, new line of purses, messenger bags and cosmetic cases made from recycled toddler juice boxes and rice bags.

The juice boxes are cut into strips and woven together for colorful and stylish bags. The rice bags are left whole, with the logos serving as decoration.

Rebagz range in price from $24 to $90.

Since the line's launch in July, sales have soared. They're not available in Chicago stores yet, but they should be soon. For now, get them at www.halftheskydesigns.com or by calling (818) 907-8695.

For a full list of events, go to www.ehighlandpark.com or call (847) 432-0284.

The designers who are selected will be offered sample production, showroom and office space at Macy's for one year starting in February.

To qualify, the person must have completed at least one collection. To apply, go to www.fashionfocuschicago.com or www.chicagolandec.org.
