Blasky, LaFleur in Huntley parks

A candidate with years of experience working for area park districts and another just starting out will join the Huntley Area Park District Board as commissioners.

James Blasky and Paul LaFleur were the top two vote-getters in Tuesday's election, in which Victor Jason was also a candidate.

LaFleur, a first-time candidate, received about 22 percent of the unofficial tally in Kane County, or 366 votes, with all six precincts reporting. Blasky received almost 27 percent of Kane County votes with Jason totaling about 20 percent with 326 votes.

With all 27 precincts reporting in McHenry County, LaFleur unofficially led the candidates with 1,465 votes - about 40 percent - and Blasky followed with 1,378 votes. Jason received 860 votes.

"I think a lot was based on experience," said Blasky. "I have worked for park districts for 11 years and now I am on the other side of the table."

LaFleur said he wanted a say in what programs are available for his 4-year-old twins.
