Shelter offers kids way to learn about pet care

Enroll now for Critter Camp 2009, a one-week day camp program for animal-loving kids at Anderson Animal Shelter. Session I for children ages 6 to 8 will be held July 13-17. Session II for children ages 9 to 12 will be held July 20-24. Both sessions are from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day.

Campers will spend the week engaged in arts and crafts, games and activities with an animal welfare theme. There will be plenty of hands-on time with shelter animals. Kids can learn more about the importance of animal issues such as proper pet care, spaying and neutering to help with overpopulation and animal safety while in a fun and engaging environment.

The cost for the week long camp is $170 which includes all camp supplies, activities and end-of-the-week party and prizes. Campers must bring a sack lunch each day that does not need to be refrigerated.
