Plant a Row for the Hungry Day

The Regenstein Fruit and Vegetable Island at the Chicago Botanic Garden will be filled with experts next Sunday to help improve your home vegetable gardens.

Here's the schedule:

11 a.m. to 2 p.m.: Storyteller Nili Yellin

11 a.m.: Bean pole teepees, Green Youth Farm

Noon: Vegetable gardening in containers, Pesche's Garden Center

12:30 p.m.: Walking tour -the five best fruits and vegetables for health, Chicago Botanic Garden

12:30 p.m.: Mike Nowak, "Let's Talk Gardening" WGN-Radio

1 p.m.: Composting and soil health, Knupper Nursery

2 p.m.: Starting your own vegetable seed, Chalet Nursery

2 to 4 p.m.: Face painter

3 p.m.: Tool selection and care, Chicago Botanic Garden

3:30 p.m.: Walking tour - the best fruits and vegetables for health, Chicago Botanic Garden

3:30 p.m.: Gardening demo by William Moss, host of the Discovery Channel's "Rally Round the House"
