Two more arrested in Round Lake Beach home invasion
Round Lake Beach police say they have arrested two more suspects in connection with an early Wednesday morning home invasion.
Deputy Chief Rich Chiarello said Pedro Aguilar, 19, of 1624 Deerpath, Round Lake Beach, and Jose Jimenez 17, of 1610 N. Chanell Drive, Round Lake Beach, were arrested late Wednesday night. A 16-year-old juvenile was arrested Wednesday morning.
All three teens are charged with home invasion, Chiarello said. Additional charges could be filed as the investigation continues.
Aguilar and Jiminez are held at Lake County jail in lieu of $500,000 cash bond, officials said. The juvenile is held at the Depke Juvenile Detention Center near Vernon Hills, but bond information was not available.
Detectives recovered the property taken during the home invasion and returned the items to the homeowner. They also recovered a "sawed-off" shotgun believed to have been used in the robbery.
Police say the three teens broke into a Round Lake Beach home, stole a woman's debit card and locked her in a bathroom before walking to the nearest ATM where they attempted to withdraw money. They returned to the home and stole the woman's car while she was still locked in the bathroom, police said.
The victim escaped and called police after the three left in her car. The call triggered a three-hour manhunt that resulted in the arrest of the 16-year-old suspect about 11 a.m. in a trash container at a landscaping and excavation business on Route 12 near Volo, Chiarello said.
"To bring a case of this magnitude to a close within 12 hours is a credit to all who participated," he said.
