Superintendent should resign

To Grayslake High School District 127 Superintendent Catherine Finger: I am writing to express my anger and disgust at this most recent scandal that has hit District 127, specifically Grayslake North High School and the situation regarding former Principal Eric Vance. We moved here from out of state six years ago in hopes of settling into a good school district. District 127 was highly recommended to us. However, in the last few years, we have watched this district disintegrate before our eyes.

Grayslake North was opened amid much fanfare but with much dissension and anger in the district and following the resignation of Dr. King three years into her term, I watched as some of the best and the brightest teachers left the district. I watched a second principal come and go and now a third principal has been fired because serious allegations against him were NEVER examined by you and your hiring team.

Back in August, I sent you two e-mails expressing my concern over Mr. Vance when his name was (barely) released to the parents in late August. I could not find any information on him when researching him, learning only that he was from Marengo. and was leaving that district before his term was completed. Now four months later, allegations that should have been addressed BEFORE he even walked into the interview have come to light and once again our children, the teachers and the families are all suffering.

There was NO communication from you, your office or the school board regarding this situation and I find this absolutely reprehensible. Your silence is another example of the shameful attitude of so many public figures who make terrible mistakes that we the taxpayers shoulder. Please know I am planning on moving my family from here as soon as we are able, hopefully by the end of this school year. I am angry at your repeated inability to lead and I feel it would be in the best interest of the district that you resign. This district that was once highly lauded is now well known as a terrible district with a "sickness" that is pervasive. The morale of our teachers suffers as do the morale and performance of our children.
