Slaughter rolls, 67-22
The Chicago Slaughter clinched home-field advantage throughout the playoffs as it rolled to its 10-straight win of the Continental Indoor Football season.
Chicago moved to 10-0 on the year as it defeated division rival Wisconsin 67-22 Saturday night at the Sears Centre Arena in Hoffman Estates.
Slaughter quarterback Russ Michna set new single-season marks for passing touchdowns, passing yards and completions and broke his own record for passing yards in a game. He passed Shane Franzer for most touchdown tosses on a season (63), Damon Dowdell for most passing yards (2,453), and Stanley Jackson for completions (188).
The former Western Illinois and Conant High School signal caller also broke his own mark for passing yards in a game with 342 on 22-of-27 passing. Michna threw 8 touchdowns on the night.
Bobby Sippio, a former Chicago Rush star, finished with 10 catches for 144 yards and 6 touchdowns, while Dontrell Jackson caught 8 passes for 151 yards and a score.
Keith Herron also broke a record of his own when he returned a Paul Schroeder missed field goal try 57 yards for a touchdown.
Chicago finished the night with 337 passing yards, eclipsing New England's team record of 302 for passing yards in a game.
Wisconsin fell to 5-4 and is now just a half-game up on Rock River for the second playoff spot in the Western Division.
