No taxes for township 'Taj Mahal'

Grafton Voters, at the 2007 annual township meeting, a vote was made to grant the township board the authority to sell the township property and to purchase real estate. The published agenda for that meeting made no mention that the township was considering buying or selling the township property. The only electors at the meeting were supervisor Rossi, the trustees, assessor, and clerk. How convenient. At the 2008 annual meeting, electors voted to have a planning committee formed to see what options were in the best interest of the township property. We were denied a planning committee.

Ironically, the states attorney, Lou Bianchi, is supporting Rossi; he should be investigating him. We as voters were never given our right to vote on selling the property.

Lastly, how and where is the payment coming from for the $3.5 million debt? There is no public information on how it will be paid. If the board is using projections of income from previous years, they had better recalculate and rethink. Homes are being foreclosed, businesses are shutting down. We don't want our taxes going up for Rossi's Taj Mahal that we weren't able to vote on. Let's vote in the right people - elect Linda Moore and her slate.
