Poi Dog Pondering touring on new album
The eclectic Chicago-based rock band Poi Dog Pondering makes a trip out into the suburbs this weekend. Frank Orrall's catchall collective is touring behind its latest album, "7."

Tawt I taw a Tweedy
Wilco's Jeff Tweedy continues his work as an all-around good guy with a pair of fundraiser shows this weekend to benefit the Emanuel Congregation, the Kawasaki disease Research Fund for Children's Memorial Hospital and a children's scholarship fund (hopefully not his own, but who can blame him if so?). It's being promoted as a solo outing, but with Tweedy one can never know who else will show up.

Folk fest
The Lake County Folk Club plays host to a show by Barbara Silverman this weekend. The folk singer has performed on "A Prairie Home Companion" and Studs Terkel's old radio show. The LCFC's own Dave Hawkins opens.
