Disgusted by mess created by his party
I am beginning to understand why John Noverini left the Republican Party. Abraham Lincoln said, "Stand with anybody that stands right. Stand with him while he is right and part with him when he goes wrong."
For me, it is time to part with the Kane County Republican Party. The final straw was the recent sale of the endorsement of the Kane County Republican chairmanship.
Where is the outrage that Chairman Denny Wiggins sold his endorsement for $5,000 a month. Does Wiggins not see a conflict of interest or at the least an appearance of impropriety?
Why is the leadership of the Republican Party silent? Wiggins' shameful behavior and inability to recognize a conflict of interest is consistent with ex-Gov. George Ryan proclaiming his innocence as he entered prison and Illinois Republican National Committeeman Robert Kjellander (also president of Springfield Consulting Group) accepting a fee of $800,000 for brokering a state bond deal.
As I mentioned, this was the final straw. Let me recap: George Ryan corruption scandal; Bob Kjeliander conflict of interest/appearance of impropriety issue; Jack Ryan sex scandal; Alan Keyes debacle; Judy Barr Topinka flop.
Republican leadership in Illinois has lost the following seats: governor, lieutenant governor, secretary of state, comptroller and treasurer, and both the state House and Senate.
If the Republican Party was a for-profit corporation, it would be in bankruptcy and the leadership would be fired or heading to jail. Oh, I forgot, one of them is in jail.
I am bracing to pick up the tab for a special election after the self-serving resignation of Congressman Denny Hastert.
Before I resign or "take a leave of absence" from my committeeman position, I need to ask if there are any Republican candidates interested in buying my committeeman endorsement for $500. Do I hear $250?
