Opening date set for new Round Lake Beach Walmart

A new Walmart Supercenter is expected to open in Round Lake Beach on Oct. 28.

The discount store is in the process of moving to its new location at 2680 Route 83. The existing Walmart at 772 E. Rollins Road, which opened in 1988, will close Oct. 27, according to store employees.

The new store will include a full line of groceries.

"We are excited about the new products and services we will be able to offer our customers," store manager Beth Dillon said.

After the move, the store plans to employ approximately 350 associates, including 140 positions created by the relocation. Many of the newly hired associates are now reporting to work to help prepare the store for its grand opening.
